Re-release Decision! The Giant Bird "Horseclaw," Supporting the Lives of the People in 'Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind,' is Now a Figure!
'Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind'
'Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind' is a manga by Hayao Miyazaki, originally serialized in Monthly Animage, and later adapted into an animated film directed by Miyazaki himself. The "Horseclaw," a giant bird that became an essential mode of transportation in the vast Sea of Corruption and deserts that appeared after the destruction of civilization during the "Seven Days of Fire," is now reimagined by Takayuki Takeya in the style of a movable figure.
This bird species, large enough to surpass the height of a human, has lost its ability to fly and instead developed strong legs, allowing it to carry people and cargo at high speeds like a horse. As a result, it has developed a symbiotic relationship with humans. The Horseclaw is highly intelligent, with many scenes depicting a deep bond with the protagonist, Nausicaä.
In the Takeya-style movable figure, the large, swollen beak, long neck, and developed legs are captured in three-dimensional form. Detailed features such as fine feathers, leg scales, claws, ethnic-style gear, and the bird’s expressive eyes and tongue add richness to the figure. The figure’s articulation was also meticulously designed, with 41 movable joints, ensuring a wide range of motion and stable postures. After many trials, this figure was created to reflect scenes from the original manga and animated film, allowing you to move and pose it as you imagine.
With 41 points of articulation
The neck has nine ball joints connected by joint structures covered with eight divided feather parts, allowing for flexible neck movement. The head can be raised as if the bird is neighing or straightened during a sprint, creating various expressive poses. The large, swollen beak can open and close, with a tongue attached inside.
The legs have 13 points of articulation per leg, allowing for a wide range of poses. The toes are fully articulated, with the three front claws capable of movement at both the first and second joints. This allows you to recreate everything from the Horseclaw firmly gripping the ground to powerfully kicking off for a sprint.
The Horseclaw’s body is equipped with reins, stirrups, a saddle, and leg guards, each part rendered with different textures. It can also be combined with the already released "Takeya-style Movable Figure Tolmekian Armored Soldier." By swapping the included waist joint parts, the soldier can be mounted on the Horseclaw.
Additionally, the figure comes with a sword for the Tolmekian armored soldier, featuring a fan-shaped blade and a custom scabbard, as well as a display stand.
